Today
we, site #4 are going to tell you a little bit of our site at Douglas
creek.
First
we will tell you about the riparian zone the left bank looking downstream is
50-100ft and our right bank looking downstream is over 100ft.
Now
I will tell you about the vegetation. Our site has sparse conifer and 0% cover
we have moderate deciduous trees and 5% cover, and moderate shrubs with 5%
cover finally but not least abundant grasses and herbs 30% cover.
The overhead canopy was 50-75%.
The channel has a flat bottom so that means we
could walk in it.
The longitudinal pattern was straight,
meandering and braided for me that’s pretty cool!
Bank stabilities has some erosion in some
areas.
Reach habitat: number of riffles 10, number of
pools 2, and percentage of riffles 10% and percentage of pools 2%.
The
artificial structures: in stream reach dams, pipes and litter. The beaver dam
was big and had litter and a pipe sticking out of the dam
Finally
along the stream reach was a road and farming on the plateau.
