Conclusion of Douglas creek

Our creek is very healthy it has some tolerant bugs but mostly there are lots of good bugs that we did not identify. We had some stone flies. Our vegetation was thick our shrubs were abundant our grasses and herbs were abundant. Our temperature was 60 degrees. Our shape in cross-section is steep. Our longitudinal pattern was straight. Our bank stability was intact we had some erosion but that might have been from last year and our number of riffles was 0 our number of pools was 0. Our riparian zone. Looking down stream was 0-50% and our right stream looking down stream was 0-50%. Our woody debris was sparse. Our artificial structures. We had none of those we just had a beaver dam. We did a ph test and we got 8.0 we also did a dissolved oxygen test it took 13 drops of sodium sulfate. Our stream was very good over all and our group did a good job on everything except on the macro invertebrates.

Our vegetation on site 4. The conifer tree population is sparse/nothing. Our deciduous trees are sparse also. The shrubs are abundant/a lot. The grasses and herbs are abundant also. To be more specific we’ve got a lot of rose bushes. So that tell you that we’ve got a lot of grasses and herbs and shrubs. As you can see we don’t have any conifers or deciduous trees and we did not have any protection our bank intact was a check.
Artificial structures. In stream reach we have a for dams and we have a check for litter and garbage.

The pH levels were 7.5 on all tests. Many things can live here like bactera, plants, carp sucker, catfish and some insects, bass, crappie, snail, clams, and mussels, salmon, trout, mayflies, caddis flies, and stoneflies.

This hole we found 1foot from the water we are sraten that it is a snake hole.

Site Survey

This is a site survey for site 4 in Douglas creek. The people that are in our group are Miles, Cody, Jackie, Arturo and Ady.

First, I will tell you about the riparian zone. The width of the left bank looking down steam is 55ft. The width of the right is 50ft. Next we will tell you about the vegetation the percent of the conifers is 0%. The percent of the deciduous is 10%. And the percent of the shrubs is 75%. The percent of the grass is 75%. The percent of the herbs is75%.

The next I will tell you about the channel. The shape of the channel is flat on the bottom. The longitudinal pattern is braided. The gradient is moderate.

I will tell you about the stream banks. The vegetation cover is abundant. The artificial bank protection is 50% to 75%. Bank stability is the bank intact.

Another thing I will tell you about is the Reach habitat. Numbers of riffles is 4 and the numbers the numbers of pools is 4.
The percent of riffles is 25% and the percent of the pools is 50%. The woody debris is abundant the organic derbies is mordent. Next I will talk to you about along the side of the stream reach we saw a road and rail road bed and a pylon. The net thing is the land uses adjacent to reach there where crops and recreation.

This is how the plants and animals of the Douglas Creek watershed work together. In site 4 we have studied macroinvertabrates, water quality, insects, vegetation, animals and stream banks.

First we will tell you about the water quality at site 4. Our water was perfect. It was 7.5. That it is not too acidy or not too soapy and it is neutral so we can have bacteria, plants, fish, and macroinvertibrates.

Second we will discuss the plants at our site. In our grassy site anything can hide, even Dumbo can hide in our grass because it is so tall and abundant. When Ethan fell he disappeared from sight. When Haylee was standing up tall you couldn't see her. The vegetation was so thick that Tyler even fell over a piece of wood that he couldn't see. He disappeared for a short time. We had moderate deciduous trees, moderate shrubs, and abundant grass/herbs

Now we will tell you about animals and animal evidence. The first thing we saw was a mouse climbing in the rocks. The second thing we saw was a water snake swimming, then we saw 3 water snakes, 1 garter snake, and 1 rattle snake. We also saw beaver scat and fur.

Finally, how is our site at Douglas Creek doing? We have many plants and animals living at our site. So over all we think our site is very clean. Let's keep it that way.

We are going to tell you in 6 paragraphs why site 4 is so awesome. The people in site 4 are Ethan, Tyler, and Haylee.
First we will tell you about the riparian zone. The left bank looking down stream is 50-100’. Right bank looking down stream is over 100’. We had no conifer trees, we had sparse deciduous trees, and we had moderate shrubs, and abundant grasses and herbs. We had 25-50 over head canopies.
Second the shape of the stream bank was most like a square. The longitudinal pattern was meandering. The gradient was low.
Third the numbers of riffles are 7. The % of pools are 10. The numbers of pools are 2 but 90% of the stream is pools. There was abundant woody debris and abundant organic debris.
Fourth, we will tell you about the artificial structures at our site. In the stream reach there was wires around the trees to keep the beavers from chopping them down. Alongside of the stream reach there was a bridge.
Last, we will tell you about the land uses adjacent to reach. We had Residential development over our hill to our west. There is no other land use by people that we could see.

Hello I want to tell you about site 4 and the reasons why it is so fun. First the location is Douglas Creek. Township is 23, Range is 23, and latitude is 47`488.901, longitude is 119`89.996.
Next width: Left bank looking down stream is 0-50” Right bank looking down stream is 0-50”
For vegetation, we have no conifers, moderate deciduous, abundant shrubs and abundant grasses/herbs. The overhead canopy is 0-25%. The shape in cross- section is like U shape. Finally I am going to tell you about artificial structures. In the stream reach we have two poles. Alongside the stream reach we saw bridges and roads.
Last, land uses adjacent to the reach. We saw one recreation area and two places for grazing / livestock access to the stream.
I am going to tell you about the stream banks. Vegetation cover-there was so much of it.
Now I am going to tell you about the Arterial bank protection. There was 0-25%- that is not much.
Next I am going to tell you about the bank stability. There was erosion in some areas and the banks collapsed in some areas. Next I am going to tell you about the riffles. There were 5 and the number of pools was 3. There was a lot of woody debris and a lot of organic debris.
